Erica Chidi Cohen
Co-Founder and CEO of LOOM
Erica is a doula, health educator and author.
She is passionate about helping people cultivate body literacy and the tools to advocate for their reproductive health and wellbeing. She has guided thousands of people in their transition from pregnancy to parenthood in her practice and through her book, Nurture: A Modern Guide to Pregnancy, Birth and Early Motherhood.
Erica began her work in San Francisco, volunteering as a doula within the prison system, working with pregnant inmates. She went on to build a successful doula and health coaching practice in Los Angeles and has been featured in Women’s Health, Vogue, Goop, Bustle, The New Yorker, Marie Claire.

Quinn is a mother and policy advocate who has also co-founded Growing Voices, a nonprofit organization working to support local leaders and community-based projects around the globe. She holds a Masters in Public Policy from UCLA and has worked in nonprofit to alleviate domestic violence, helped internationally in poverty reduction, and is extremely passionate about improving outcomes for women and families within the health and environmental sectors.
Nicole Makowka, LMFT
Therapeutic Director + Lead Educator
Nicole Makowka is the Therapeutic Director at LOOM. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Parent Educator. With over a decade of professional experience, Nicole works in both individual and group settings, serving children and families in an educational and therapeutic capacity. Equally guided by research and empathy, Nicole is committed to supporting Families in every stage of parenting. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, son, and two dogs.
Sarah has been working in business operations and project management for the bulk of her career. Prior to moving to Los Angeles in 2010, she lived and worked in New York City, where she managed growth operations and communications for Agata & Valentina, a specialty food retailer and catering business. Most recently (and most locally), she managed business operations and special projects for The Episcopal School of Los Angeles, an non-profit independent school in Hollywood. Sarah is passionate about working with entrepreneurial, innovative organizations. She is pleased to have the opportunity help foster the growth of LOOM and its community, and to have a hand in developing a new, modern, and inclusive approach to reproductive wellness for all.
Dr Suzanne Gilberg
Dr Suzanne Gilberg earned her medical degree in 1996 from the University of Southern California School of Medicine, completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and has been in private practice of obstetrics and gynecology in Beverly Hills, CA since 2000. After many years of a personal yoga and meditation practice, she completed her Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist degree at California College of Ayurveda in 2010 and was board certified in Integrative and Holistic medicine in 2008. Dr. Suzanne is co-founder of Cedars Sinai Medical Center’s Green Committee, and is deeply committed to the promotion of healing that involves individuals, families, communities and the planet. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children in a “green” renovated home with a sustainable native plants garden and organic urban mini-farm.
Dr. Harvey Karp
Pediatrician and Child Development Expert
Dr. Harvey Karp is one of America's most-trusted pediatricians and child development experts. He is on the faculty of the USC School of Medicine and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Karp practiced pediatrics in Los Angeles for over 25 years. His landmark discoveries and unique ability to translate complex science into effective techniques to empower parents have revolutionized our understanding of the needs of young children. He is the founder and CEO of Happiest Baby, a smart-tech and parenting solutions company.
Midwife and Lactation Consultant
Sara is a Licensed Midwife (LM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She has a BA in Creative Writing, and graduated from the National College of Midwifery in 2013. She completed UC San Diego’s lactation consultant program in 2014, served as the Vice President of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley, and is passionate about ensuring that all families have the information, tools, and guidance they need to create their best futures. Sara married her wife in 2011, and together they welcomed twins in 2014. After experiencing the healthcare system firsthand as a queer pregnant person, Sara rededicated herself to creating a safe place for families to receive competent, personalized midwifery care.
Dr. Jessica Zucker
Dr. Jessica Zucker is a licensed clinical psychologist in Los Angeles specializing in women’s reproductive and maternal mental health. Jessica primarily works with women struggling with fertility, pregnancy ambivalence, pregnancy loss, during transitions in motherhood, prenatal and postpartum adjustments, perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy and postpartum body image concerns, and in the midst of relationship challenges after the loss or birth of a child.
